Over the years, I have interviewed thousands of candidates via face-to-face, phone, and video calls. Most of the time, both candidate and I are speaking for the very first time.
Having a good conversation is essential as we get to know each other better. Here are the key points to have a good conversation:
1) Be prepared. As a candidate, you will need to prepare upfront and control the flow of information that you wanted to share, especially on the topics about you and your working experience.
2) Be patient and wait for your turn to share information. This is important as everyone deserves to be heard. If you have questions, please ask after the interviewer has finished and vice versa.
3) Be polite and humble. The first impression lasts, and these are the essential qualities that you should have.
4) Have a common interest or topic to discuss such as family, hobby and personal development. This will break the ice and turn the conversation into a warm one right away.
The above are some of the critical points for having a good conversation. Having a mock interview session would be helpful with assistance from professionals.
Have a great day everyone.
